The Everest Awards
Our company values of Trust, Commitment and Knowledge are integral to all that we do, and our annual Everest Award is recognition
of the people within our business who represent these values consistently. As the name suggests, the Everest Award recognises
individuals who have gone beyond the limits. This ethos filters through the entire Obex team, but every year there is an individual who
truly shines. And, being a peer-nominated award where the recipients are chosen by our Directors and CEO, it certainly means a great
deal to be named winner.
While it doesn’t make you an ‘overnight superstar’, the winner is certainly celebrated because the Award is a highly regarded
acknowledgment of our people and their commitment to excellence. A few years ago, as a result of the team getting bigger we decided
to give two awards; one to a sales person and the other to someone from administration. - Last year the awards were given to
Shannon and Helen, both whom genuinely embodied our values, and time and again went above and beyond the call of duty.

SHANNON COLLINS - CLINICAL SALES SUPPORT MANAGER
Everest Award Winner (Sales) in 2010
Shannon’s role can be a very autonomous one, but from the front line to the back room support he knows that he’s part of a team and that everybody is working as one. The fact that Obex is kiwi-owned matters a great deal to him, and this coupled with the fact that the company is well respected amongst its customers and that its quality products are held in very high regard, helps him to succeed.
He feels Obex pushes the limits of excellence all the time - they do what they say they can and they are extremely reliable. Coming from a medical background himself, Shannon is often the go-to person for clinicians when they need advice. It is this ability, along with his boundless enthusiasm for doing a great job, which saw him nominated for and named as a winner of the 2010 Everest Award.

HELEN GODKIN - CUSTOMER LIAISON ADMINISTRATION SUPPORT
Everest Award Winner (Administration) in 2010
Helen’s relationship with Obex began as a customer 27 years ago, and such was her belief in the integrity and values of the organisation she ‘joined the family’ in the mid ‘80s. She feels that Obex showed then, and still shows today, that it is a company with honesty. Obex has a caring passion to provide customers, and ultimately patients, with the best products and services in a friendly yet efficient, professional way. Helen believes there is a vast amount of personality and talent at Obex, and that as a group they are encouraged to share ideas and values to ensure they provide an excellent service to their customers and fellow staff members.
She enjoys helping people and utilising her medical knowledge acquired over many years nursing in various fields of medicine. Obex has what is best described as an ‘open door’ policy, and the mix of personalities together with their associated talents is welcomed and encouraged - team culture is strong, but it still allows for individuality. Described in her words as one of the ‘senior citizens’ of the company, she was overwhelmed with the comments from her peers and is delighted to be named a 2010 Everest Award Winner.
